What is Christian Life Coaching?
A trauma-informed, Christian Life Coach is a partner for the growth journey, helping you move forward in a healthy direction (Prv 16:9, 20:5). It is someone who supports you, guides you, encourages you, and provides feedback to help you avoid roadblocks and pursue your goals while relying on God’s Word and the power and community of the Holy Spirit to take brokenness and restore it to wholeness (Pss 1, 23; Rom 5:1-5; 1 Thes 5:23-24; Phil 2:12-13). A Life Coach collaborates with you so you can see choices and possibilities that increase human agency and resiliency, overcoming isolation, discouragement, and powerlessness that often accompanies trauma.
While trained Life Coaches and Counselors are both interested in promoting the wellbeing of the clients they serve, Life Coaches are not Counselors. While some Counselors may utilize coaching techniques, here are a few ways of distinguishing these two helping professions:
