A Note from Our Founder, Lynne McKenzie:
Statistics reveal that there is a critical need to offer quality care to those impacted by the trauma of abuse (physical, sexual, spiritual, emotional, racial, financial, neglect), those events that wound us both internally and externally (Ps 31:9-10). Our ministry serves people who are wrestling with questions of faith, seeking answers or overcoming religious trauma, as well as devoted followers of Jesus, desiring to go deeper in their faith walk. In all cases, we help people find support, clarity, and strength when facing or recovering from destructive people and situations (Ps 145:14; Phil 4:13).
All people experience pain, loss, and grief throughout their lifetime. We all experience small “t” forms of trauma or crisis situations that cause distress and disruptions in our lives. Although studies vary, a segment of the population, around 70% of all adults, will experience a serious traumatic event (large “T” trauma) in their lifetime (Sidran Institute, 2018). 20% of this group, it is thought, will have lingering symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Some people will even experience multiple traumatic events or chronic traumatic environments that increase the severity of the impact which can make recovery more complex. While the responses that people have to these events varies, when trauma occurs it has lasting effects that impact many areas of a person’s life (work, relationships, spirituality, physical & mental health). From a Christian perspective, we believe that God’s truth, God’s people, and the work of the Holy Spirit play a significant role in our process of renewal and transformation (Ps 19:7; Jn 14:16-17; Gal 6:2).

Sometimes trials make us question the reality and goodness of God (Ps 13:1-2), but we believe that God cares for the suffering and abused and redeems our deepest sorrows and afflictions (Gn 50:20; Ex 3:7-9; Pss 34:17-19; 146:5-9; Rom 5:1-5). Our ministry helps skeptics explore their doubts about Christianity and consider fresh perspectives. It also offers a biblical and evidence-based approach that helps Jesus worshippers navigate life’s challenges through the grace that God supplies (Jn 16:33; 2 Cor 12:9). We are excited about collaborating with other people helpers and coming alongside survivors of abuse, encouraging them on their ongoing, Spirit-led journeys of healing and growth, anticipating that full restoration and perfect justice will come when Jesus returns in glory (Rom 8:18, 23; 1 Jn 3:2; Rev 20:11-15; 21:4-5).
