Strength-Based Care:
We recognize the God-given, natural abilities and spiritual resources that clients bring to the ongoing journey of healing and growth and seek to encourage and develop these strengths by building a collaborative, supportive relationship with clients (Ps 139:13-14; Prv 20:5; Eph 6:10-18; Gal 5:16; 1 Cor 12:4-7). We empower clients to take an active role in designing plans and taking steps that help them grow in intimacy with God and live fruitfully, trusting that God is co-laboring in this process of renewal (Ps 1:1-3, 23:1-3; Prv 16:9; Jhn 15:5; Phil 2:12-13).
Biblical Care:
Though we are respectful of people who have different views and welcome all people, we remain committed to a Christian ethic of care. We share our faith knowing there is goodness, peace, hope, and joy that flow from having a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ (Matt 11:28-30; Rom 5:10-11, 8:1-39, 14:17). We rely on God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit as we help guide clients through a process of healing and transformation (Pss 19:7-11, 119:130; Jn 14:16; Rom 12:2). We hold to the essential doctrines of the faith, which center on the person, work, and exaltation of Jesus Christ, and offer charity to others where there is disagreement on secondary theological matters. We allow others room for freedom of conscience when Scripture is unclear or not a central matter of the faith so long as it does not endanger the safety of others (Rom 14).

Holistic Care:
Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, all aspects of the created world have been negatively impacted by the fall (Gen 3; Rom 8:20-22). Likewise, traumatic events and abuse harm individuals in all kinds of ways (spiritually, physically, cognitively, emotionally, relationally, vocationally). We address the needs of the whole person in our work with clients recognizing that people are a complex, interrelated unity of body and soul (Mk 12:30-31; 1 Thes 5:23). Though we prioritize God’s Word and the work of the Holy Spirit as the means of promoting life and godliness (Ps. 1:1-3; Isa 55:11; 2 Pt 1:3-4), we recognize that God gives common grace and wisdom through evidenced-based research that enhances our understanding of people (ex. the brain, fight-or-flight response, etc.) and ways people find relief from life’s troubles and flourish (ex. nutrition, exercise, etc.) (Matt 5:45). We utilize this research so long as it is consistent with the teachings of Scripture.
Collaborative Care:
We like to see ourselves as an entry point on the continuum of care on a person’s healing and growth journey. We help clients form a healthy support system (Gen. 2:12; Eccl 4:9-12). We look at ways we can partner with volunteers, other professionals, and organizations to best serve our clients and the community at large. We make referrals when something is outside our scope of knowledge or expertise. Though we are research-informed, we are not medical experts. In some cases, other helping professionals may offer additional support to clients with complex and persistent struggles that inhibit wellness and growth. We strive to educate families, churches, and other organizations about the dynamics of trauma and abuse so that these places can be a refuge for those overcoming difficult circumstances and healing from past wounds.
Compassionate Care:
During his earthly ministry, Jesus went about doing good to others—healing the sick, helping the poor and needy, and proclaiming the Good News as he announced and enacted the arrival of the God’s Kingdom (Lk 4:18, 5:30-32, 8:1-2, 43-48; Act 2:22-39, 10:38). Throughout Scripture, we can see that God cares deeply for the lost, hurting, and oppressed (Ex 6:5-7; Ps 72:12-14; Is 1:17; Ezek 34; Mat 9:36; Luk 10:29-37). We prioritize serving the “least of these” as an outward expression of our faith (Mt 25:40; Jas 1:14-18). We desire to reach vulnerable people, people who are precious and valuable because they are God’s image bearers (Gen 1:26-27), and to offer quality, affordable care to those with limited resources (Gal 6:10). We rely on the generous support of donors and volunteers to help support our mission.
